5 Movies That Will Make You Cry

Sometimes you just need a good cry and they say it’s very good for the soul. I personal don’t cry very often but when I watch a sad movie the waterworks are let loose! So here are a few of my favourite water works movies. Let me know what you think.

1. My Girl

My Girl is a 1991 American tragicomedy film directed by Howard Zieff and written by Laurice Elehwany. The film, starring Macaulay Culkin and Anna Chlumsky in her feature film debut, depicts the coming-of-age of a young girl who faces many different emotional highs and lows

2. A Walk to Remember

A Walk to Remember is a 2002 American coming-of-age romantic drama film directed by Adam Shankman and written by Karen Janszen, based on Nicholas Sparks’ 1999 novel of the same name. The film stars Shane West, Mandy Moore, Peter Coyote, and Daryl Hannah, and was produced by Denise Di Novi and Hunt Lowry for Warner Bros.

 

3. The Notebook

The Notebook is a 2004 American romance film directed by Nick Cassavetes and based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. The film stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams as a young couple who fall in love in the 1940s. Their story is narrated from the present day by an elderly man (portrayed by James Garner) telling the tale to a fellow nursing home resident (played by Gena Rowlands, who is Cassavetes’ mother).

4. My Sisters Keeper

My Sisters’s Keeper is a 2009 American drama film directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vassilieva, and Alec Baldwin. Based on Jodi Picoult’s novel of the same name.

5. Steel Magnolias

Steel Magnolias is a 1989 American comedy-drama film directed by Herbert Ross. It is the film adaptation of Robert Harling’s 1987 play of the same name. The play and film are about the bond a group of women share in a small-town southern community, and how they cope with the death of one of their own.

The story is based on Robert Harling’s real life experience of the death of his sister, Susan Harling Robinson, in 1985 due to complications from Type 1 diabetes. He changed his sister’s name in the story from Susan to Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie.

  1. My Girl is one of my favorite movies. I’ve watched it countless times and even though i know what to expect i’m still left a blubbering mess! I’m ashamed to admit i have never watched Steel Magnolias 😦 but it’s now on my list of movies to make my boyfriend sit through lol 🙂 Thank You!
